Strategy engagements for leadership teams

Does your team have a strategy, or just a list of targets?

Work with Venkat Murthy on the business obstacle behind competing priorities, stalled growth or effort that is not producing progress. Build an approach your team can test and coordinate the work needed to implement it.

One real business challenge

What is holding your team's progress back?

Enquiries arrive but quotations stall. Routine work still waits for the founder. Growth stretches delivery. Bring the evidence of a recurring problem. Use the BSI method to examine the obstacle before another target, hire or budget becomes the answer.

Diagnose the obstacle

Separate what you have observed from what the team assumes. Investigate the constraint that keeps the same problem returning.

Possible working output: a draft diagnosis, supporting evidence and the questions still needing investigation.

Choose an approach to test

Compare approaches, make the trade-offs explicit and identify the assumption on which the proposed strategy depends.

Possible working output: an approach to examine and a bounded test with evidence that could support or change it.

Coordinate implementation

Connect the approach to the people, dependencies and actions it requires. Agree how the team will examine progress and adjust.

Possible working output: a working strategy brief with actions, owners, dates and a review point.

Preparation, scope, format, timing, availability and fee are agreed from your brief. Working outputs depend on the agreed scope and the team's participation. Testing and implementation continue through the team's subsequent work.

A working sequence, adapted to your team

Connect the diagnosis to the work.

  1. Name the progress: define what the team wants to improve and examine the evidence of what is happening now.
  2. Find the obstacle: investigate the friction behind the recurring problem.
  3. Choose the approach: compare alternatives and agree what to pursue, delay or stop.
  4. Test a critical assumption: define a small test, an owner and the evidence that would change the approach.
  5. Coordinate and review: connect the next actions, dependencies and responsibilities to a review point.

The sequence is scoped to your business context after reviewing your brief. It creates a working basis for strategy; evidence from subsequent testing and implementation determines what should change.
